James Goedmakers

I am PhD student in Computer Science at FAU, with an MS in AI and BS in CS. My main career and academic interests are in Data Science and AI Research. I have previously worked in positions with FAU, the Naval Information Warfare Center, and the Department of the Navy in Data Science and AI Research roles. I have a part time interest in health and fitness, having previously worked as a Trainer and Yoga Instructor. I also compete in collegiate and international athletics, and have achieved 1st place at the college national championship and 4th place at the world championship semifinals.

  • Trains machine learning models to predict energy infrastructure component behaviors such as EV Detection and EV charging load disaggregation.

Computer Scientist – Department of the Navy

Installed and operated a linux virtual machine component of a Navy ASW trainer to generate and analyze acoustic datasets. Developed software algorithms in MATLAB to incorporate additional detection functionality of underwater acoustic phenomena for deployment on Navy P8 ASW training systems.
Calculated and compiled key acoustic feature datasets from ASW systems to enable training and evaluation of machine learning models in order to increase prediction capabilities of Navy ASW systems.
